Welcome to 2013 we hope that this year will be a good year for everyone.
Now that the festive season is over and we are all back to work figures have been issued for Anti Drink Driving Campaigns carried out by Sussex Police, they reported 128 drink-driving arrests during December, and I am sure we will all agree that this figure is too high. Drink driving and drug driving are on the increase again, we seem to have forgotten the ad campaigns of previous years highlighting the dangers of drink and drug driving and pressing home the importance of good practices such as a nominated driver, leaving the car and home or taking a taxi.
Drink driving was prolific in the 70’s and 80’s with fatalities reaching an all time high, but with TV ads and other drink driving awareness campaigns drink driving became socially unacceptable and figures dropped dramatically throughout the 90’s and into the new millenium. But, in recent years figures show that not only drink driving but drug driving is on the rise, the police have been issued new powers to tackle the problem and will continue to target the offenders throughout the coming months.
So, lets all help to STAY SAFE by remembering, if you are drinking leave the car at home, nominate a driver or take a taxi. Remember drink/drug driving KILLS.
